Nexperia sues Chinese parent Wingtech for over $2 billion

Nexperia, a semiconductor manufacturer based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, has filed a lawsuit in an Amsterdam court against its Chinese parent company, Wingtech Technology. The company is seeking more than $2 billion in compensation, alleging that Wingtech violated internal agreements by establishing a separate supply chain that competes directly with Nexperia.

The lawsuit also names Wingtech founder and former CEO Zhang Xuezheng, as well as Nexperia China and Nexperia Shanghai, as defendants. Wingtech has denied the allegations, stating it has not yet been formally served with a summons and intends to defend itself through legal counsel.

The legal dispute is part of a broader conflict regarding corporate control. In May, Wingtech filed its own lawsuit in China against three Dutch Nexperia entities and three executives, seeking approximately $1.2 billion. Additionally, a Chinese court previously ordered a freeze on assets held by Nexperia and its equipment subsidiary worth approximately $300 million.

The conflict escalated in late 2025 when the Dutch government intervened to protect critical technology and production activities. This led to the suspension of Zhang Xuezheng and the placement of Wingtech shares under independent management by the Enterprise Chamber, effectively stripping the Chinese parent company of control over Nexperia.
