Nextcloud launches Euro-Office desktop app for open-source productivity

Nextcloud has launched Hub 26 Summer, featuring a new desktop application for Euro-Office. This release provides a European, open-source alternative to Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, aimed at enhancing digital sovereignty for organizations and individuals.

Previously accessible only via web browsers or mobile apps, the new Euro-Office desktop client allows users to edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations locally on Linux, macOS, and Windows while keeping files securely synced with Nextcloud. The application is expected to be available for download in the coming weeks.

Developed in collaboration with partners including IONOS, Open-Xchange, and Office.eu, the project utilizes the OnlyOffice codebase and supports both OOXML and OpenDocument Formats (ODF). The release also includes performance improvements such as faster filtering and document thumbnails to streamline file management.
