Nextech fair promotes specialized technology for the fashion industry
The first edition of Nextech, a specialized fair held in Medellín, focused on integrating technology into the fashion industry. Sebastián Díez, executive president of Inexmoda, emphasized that technology must be specialized by vertical to address the unique financial cycles, data needs, and value chains of the fashion sector.
Rather than simply adopting general software, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between developers and the fashion ecosystem, covering everything from raw materials and design to production, inventory, and consumer relations. The event highlighted five key areas driving the sector: artificial intelligence, data, automation, traceability, and response speed.
Participants explored various solutions, including 3D design, AI-assisted product development, and logistics tools. Díez noted that the industry can no longer view technology as a distant concept, as the fair was born from the specific challenges of the fashion system rather than technology for its own sake.
