NFL expands international presence with record 2026 global game schedule

The NFL is launching its most ambitious international schedule to date for the 2026 season, featuring nine regular-season games across four continents and seven countries. Key markets include Mexico City, which is set to host games at Banorte Stadium through 2028, including a matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers on November 22, 2026.

In Europe, the league is expanding its footprint with games scheduled for London, Paris, Madrid, and Munich. Germany remains a strategic hub, with Berlin slated to host games in 2027 and 2029. Other potential growth markets identified include Toronto and Melbourne, the latter of which will host a debut game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

Beyond professional games, the NFL is investing in talent development through the NFL Academy. The program, based in the United Kingdom, helps international players, including several from Mexico, secure opportunities in U.S. collegiate football. While the league's international presence is growing, officials note that hosting games is distinct from establishing permanent overseas franchises.
