Nghệ An launches second phase of DNA sampling for martyrs' relatives

Nghệ An province has initiated its second phase of DNA sample collection from the relatives of fallen soldiers. This initiative, following a plan by the Ministry of Public Security, focuses on collecting samples from maternal lineages to assist in identifying the remains of martyrs whose identities remain unknown.

Local authorities have been tasked with ensuring the process is efficient and high-quality. Commune and ward governments are required to announce collection schedules daily via local broadcasting systems and provide contact information for police officials to assist relatives. To facilitate participation, local governments must coordinate with police forces to provide transportation for all registered relatives to and from the sampling sites.

In the previous collection phase held from June 25 to July 1, Nghệ An provincial police and local units successfully collected DNA samples from 17,831 individuals, reaching 89.7% of the initial target.
