Severe weather across Southeast Asia is causing widespread disruption. In Vietnam, a tropical depression in the northern Gulf of Tonkin is forecasted to strengthen into a storm within 24 hours, potentially bringing winds up to level 10. This weather system is driving heavy rainfall across Northern and North-Central Vietnam, with provinces like Lang Son, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong expected to receive over 500mm of rain.

The heavy rains have already caused significant damage. In Lam Dong, storms destroyed approximately 500 durian trees, resulting in losses exceeding 5 billion VND. In Dak Lak, an 18-year-old man died after being struck by a falling tree. In Nghe An and Ha Tinh, landslides and flooding have cut off roads and threatened local households.

In Thailand, heavy overnight rains in Nan Province triggered flash floods that inundated homes and agricultural land, washing away a bridge and forcing residents to seek higher ground. Authorities in various regions, including Ninh Binh and Quang Tri, are mobilizing emergency responses and issuing warnings to maritime vessels and residents in flood-prone areas.
