NHRA Countdown playoffs reach halfway point

The NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs have reached their halfway point following races in Martin, Rockingham, and St. Louis. As the 75th anniversary season enters its final three races, the competition remains intense.

In the Top Fuel category, Shawn Langdon has established a significant lead in the two-horse race against teammate Doug Kalitta. Langdon holds a perfect 12-0 record in the playoffs and has won four consecutive races, leaving Kalitta 116 points behind.

Rookie Will Smith has emerged as a major mover, climbing from 12th to 5th in the points standings after securing six round wins during the Countdown. The remaining playoff schedule includes the Texas Motorplex, Las Vegas, and the season finale at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in November.
