Shawn Langdon NHRA racing victories

Overview

Shawn Langdon has secured multiple significant victories in the NHRA drag racing series during September and October 2026.

On September 7, Langdon won the 72nd annual NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Driving for Kalitta Motorsports, he defeated Tony Stewart in the final round, placing him second in the points standings entering the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

Langdon then won the inaugural Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park, marking his sixth victory of the season. During the semifinals, he set a new national speed record in the Top Fuel category with a 346.95-mph run. This victory allowed Langdon to reclaim the Top Fuel points lead.

In early October, Langdon won the NAPA NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway by defeating rookie Will Smith. This marked his eighth victory of the season and his fourth consecutive race win, extending his points lead to 116 points over teammate Doug Kalitta.

As the NHRA Countdown playoffs reached their halfway point following races in Martin, Rockingham, and St. Louis, Langdon maintained a dominant position in the Top Fuel category. He holds a perfect 12-0 record in the playoffs, continuing his streak of four consecutive wins. Meanwhile, rookie Will Smith has climbed to fifth in the points standings.

At the Texas Motorplex during the NHRA FallNationals, Langdon secured the provisional No. 1 qualifying spot with a run of 3.648 seconds at 340.39 mph. This was described as the “quickest of his career” and the fastest Top Fuel run of the NHRA’s 75th anniversary season. By winning the ‘Battle for the Saddle’ during the JEGS Friday Night Live session, he earned a $15,000 bonus. Langdon enters the weekend with a 16-round winning streak, seeking his fifth consecutive race victory.
