NHRA U.S. Nationals concludes at Indianapolis
The 72nd Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals, often referred to as ‘The Big Go,’ recently concluded at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The event served as a centerpiece for the NHRA’s 75th anniversary, with winners receiving special diamond Wally trophies to commemorate the milestone.
Jack Beckman secured two victories during the six-day competition, winning the PlayNHRA Funny Car All-Star Callout and defeating Matt Hagan in the event final on Monday. Beckman competed in a special John Force tribute design on his Peak Chevy Funny Car, describing the experience as the greatest weekend of his career.
The event featured over 850 race cars across various categories, including nitro-burning Altereds and heads-up Class Eliminations. Participants and spectators faced record-high temperatures throughout the competition, which included appearances by racing icons such as Don Garlits and Lynda Vaughn.
