NHS launches autumn flu vaccination programme across England

The NHS has launched its annual autumn flu vaccination programme across various regions in England, including Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and West Yorkshire, to prepare for the winter season.

The initial phase of the rollout prioritizes pregnant women and young children. Specifically, children aged two and three, as well as those with certain long-term health conditions, are being offered vaccinations through GP practices. Most school-aged children from Reception to Year 11 are expected to receive the nasal spray vaccine at school.

Starting October 1, the programme will expand to include additional eligible groups. These include individuals aged 65 and over, adults with specific long-term health conditions, care home residents, carers, frontline health and social care workers, and close contacts of people with weakened immune systems. Appointments for these groups can be booked via the National Booking Service, the NHS App, or by calling 119.
