NHS opens booking for autumn flu and Covid-19 vaccinations

The NHS national booking service has opened for flu and Covid-19 vaccinations as part of winter preparedness efforts. Starting September 1, flu vaccinations are available for pregnant women and children, including those aged two to three, primary and secondary school students, and children in clinical risk groups.

From October 1, eligibility expands to include individuals aged 65 and over, those aged 18 to 65 in clinical risk groups, residents in long-stay care homes, carers, close contacts of immunocompromised individuals, and frontline healthcare workers. Additionally, Covid-19 vaccinations will become available on October 1 for those aged 75 and over, care home residents, and immunosuppressed individuals aged six months and older.

Chief Nursing Officer Duncan Burton and Health Secretary Yvette Cooper have both urged eligible citizens to book appointments to protect vulnerable populations and reduce pressure on the NHS during the winter months. Health officials noted that it is safe to receive both the flu and Covid-19 vaccines during the same appointment. Bookings can be made via the NHS website, the NHS App, or by calling 119.
