Niš, Serbia and Nikšić, Montenegro roll out expanded free city bus services

The city of Niš in Serbia is finalising a new public‑transport study that will create a denser network of bus lines, many of them free, to improve connections between suburban villages and the city centre. Mayor‑appointed official Miloš Đorđević said the plan will add more departures for outlying settlements and introduce minibuses in districts that previously had no service, aiming to cut congestion and air pollution. The study is slated for completion by 18 August.

In Nikšić, Montenegro, the municipal assembly approved two free urban bus lines. Director of the local bus company Draško Cerović explained that the service will start with two buses and a van provided by the Ministry of Public Works, funded by a €40,000 municipal transfer. The initiative is part of broader efforts that also include a new paid‑parking scheme and a revised municipal budget for 2025.
