Serbia-Montenegro city transport upgrades

In late June 2026, municipal authorities in Niš, Serbia, and Nikšić, Montenegro, launched expanded free city‑bus services, aiming to improve public‑transport accessibility for residents. By the end of July, the same Serbian city, Niš, together with Bijelo Polje in Montenegro, announced a sizable increase in funding for road and street works. The Niš council added 278 million dinars to its infrastructure budget, targeting road reconstruction, pavement rehabilitation, signalisation and public‑lighting maintenance. Bijelo Polje issued tenders for sidewalk reconstruction, stair‑way repairs and street lighting upgrades, totalling roughly one million euros. Both steps reflect a coordinated regional push to modernise urban transport infrastructure and enhance safety and accessibility across Serbian and Montenegrin municipalities.
