NIA conducts searches in Jammu and Kashmir over LeT terror conspiracy

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday as part of an investigation into a cross-border terror conspiracy. The operations targeted a network involving Pakistan-based handlers of the proscribed terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and their local Over Ground Workers (OGWs).

The searches took place in the Kupwara, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, and Sopore areas. The investigation aims to dismantle a support network used for communication, reconnaissance, and providing logistical assistance, such as shelter and movement, to infiltrated terrorists.

The case originated following the arrest of an OGW on March 31, 2026, during a checkpoint inspection, where a hand grenade and live ammunition were recovered. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Pakistani nationals linked to the conspiracy. The NIA is currently examining financial transactions, communication channels, and the supply chains for arms and explosives to fully map the network's activities.
