Nicaragua and Russia Sign Multiple Bilateral Agreements at St Petersburg Forum

Nicaragua’s vice‑president Rosario Murillo announced that the country’s cooperation with the Russian Federation was being deepened during the International Economic Forum in St Petersburg. The Nicaraguan delegation met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who reiterated the “fraternal” ties between the two nations, and also held talks with Russian Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who pledged Duma support for bilateral projects.

Several agreements were signed, including a friendship pact between the cities of Donetsk and Managua, a memorandum of understanding on bio‑security, a treaty on extradition, and an accord on the transfer of convicted prisoners. Delegates from Nicaragua – including special representative Laureano Ortega, industry minister Erwin Ramírez and others – participated in the meetings, marking a significant expansion of cooperation in health, security, communication and scientific development.
