Nicaragua Army conducts security and disaster response training

The Nicaraguan Army has implemented several initiatives to strengthen local institutional capacities and regional security. Between October 16 and 26, 2026, the Army’s Civil Defense Staff and Military Medical Corps conducted risk management and damage assessment training for military medical personnel in Managua to prepare field hospital directors for emergencies.

In the Managua department, the military provided first aid, fire prevention, and earthquake safety training to institutional brigades from the company DISCASA, which included an evacuation drill in Ciudad Sandino. Additionally, authorities in León and Telica met to present an action plan designed to improve response capabilities for volcanic eruptions across 13 communities.

In the Nueva Segovia region, the Army’s 1st Regional Military Command held meetings with municipal authorities, producers, merchants, and transporters in San Fernando and Ciudad Antigua. These discussions focused on strengthening the Permanent Rural Security Plan and the Protection and Security Plan for the 2026-2027 coffee harvest cycle.
