Nicaragua hosts electronic and traditional music festivals

Nicaragua hosted two distinct musical events aimed at celebrating and modernizing the nation's cultural identity. In Ciudad Sandino, Managua, the Electronic Music Festival 2026 brought together DJs from various municipalities to fuse modern electronic production with traditional folkloric rhythms, such as 'son nica' and 'Palo de Mayo.

Simultaneously, the first edition of the 'Son Nica' Marimba Festival took place in Matagalpa. Organized by the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR) and local municipalities, the event featured ten marimba ensembles performing traditional rhythms including polkas, mazurcas, and jamaquellos. These festivals serve to promote national pride and preserve musical heritage through both contemporary innovation and traditional performance.
