Nicaragua National Assembly conducts constitutional reform consultations

The National Assembly of Nicaragua is conducting the second phase of the ‘Hay Patria’ consultation process regarding a partial reform of the Political Constitution. This initiative aims to foster citizen participation and dialogue across various municipalities and territories to discuss the nation's institutional future.

According to data released by the National Assembly on September 29, 2026, the first phase of the consultation included over 300,000 participants across 31 national meetings. The second phase, which began on September 9, has reached 33 municipalities in the departments of Estelí, Matagalpa, and Chinandega, recording more than 67,000 participants by the end of September.

Recent sessions of the consultation have taken place in the municipalities of Nandaime, Diriomo, and Diriá. During these meetings, local citizens expressed support for the constitutional reform, linking the initiative to national stability, security, and sovereignty.
