Nicaragua reports new COVID-19 cases and health infrastructure improvements
Nicaragua’s Ministry of Health (MINSA) reported that between August 25 and September 1, 2026, 98 individuals were treated for confirmed cases of COVID-19. The ministry noted that 107 people completed their required follow-up period during the same week. Since the start of the pandemic, the ministry has managed 17,261 cases, with 16,918 recoveries recorded to date. No deaths attributable to COVID-19 were reported during this period.
In the North Caribbean region, the Sol Naciente Health Post in Puerto Cabezas has undergone a total rehabilitation. The project, executed by the Puerto Cabezas Municipal Mayor's Office, aims to improve healthcare services for more than 12,000 residents in the neighborhoods of Rosario Murillo, Poza Azul, Caminantes, José Centeno, and Belén Galilea. The facility handles an average of 3,500 medical consultations per month, providing care for children and pregnant women.
