Nicaraguan public health infrastructure and COVID-19 updates
Overview
Nicaragua has implemented several updates to its public health infrastructure and reported recent epidemiological data. In early August, the National Blood Bank received a refurbished mobile hemocenter and various equipment valued at 3.2 million córdobas. This unit is intended to expand the capacity of blood-collection teams traveling to schools, workplaces, and other public sites.
By late August, the Ministry of Health reported 98 confirmed COVID-19 cases between August 25 and September 1, 2026, with no deaths recorded during that period. Additionally, the Sol Naciente Health Post in Puerto Cabezas underwent rehabilitation to improve services for approximately 12,000 residents in the North Caribbean region.
