Nicaraguan athletes honored ahead of international competitions

The Nicaraguan Institute of Sports (IND) held an official flag-raising ceremony on September 7 for national delegations scheduled to compete in international competitions throughout the month.

Representing Nicaragua are the national teams for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Artistic Gymnastics, and Chess. These athletes will travel to Colombia, El Salvador, and Uzbekistan for their respective events.

Maurice Ortega Murillo, the Presidential Delegate for Sports Promotion and Development, emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the growth and popularity of these disciplines. The MMA delegation, consisting of 10 athletes, four coaches, a referee, and a delegate, is set to participate in the Pan American Championship in Chía, Colombia, from September 8 to 14.
