Nicaragua's National Assembly honors historic women, university celebrates Raúl Castro

The Nicaraguan National Assembly commemorated Blanca Stella Aráuz and her daughter Blanca Segovia with a special mention, highlighting their roles in the country's independence and revolutionary history. The tribute was delivered by deputy Perla Soledad Castillo, who recalled their sacrifices during the early 20th‑century anti‑imperialist struggle.

In a separate ceremony at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua (UNAN‑Managua), officials marked the 95th birthday of former Cuban leader Raúl Castro. Speakers praised his longstanding support for the Sandinista Revolution and called for continued solidarity against perceived U.S. aggression. Both events reflect the Sandinista government’s emphasis on historical memory and alignment with Cuba.
