Nicki Minaj sued for $230,000 unpaid legal fees, default judgment hearing set for September

Law firm Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani LLP filed a collection lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging that rapper Nicki Minaj owes $229,541 in unpaid legal fees. The firm represented Minaj in a 2023 copyright infringement case that was settled confidentially in December 2024, with a contract stating she was liable for fees “regardless of the outcome.” Minaj has not responded to the March filing, prompting the firm to seek a default judgment; a hearing is scheduled for September.

The dispute follows earlier lawsuits this year, including a $275,000 claim by production company 24/7 Production over a 2023 concert and a settlement of a $10 million defamation suit in June. Donald Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz denied the allegations, tweeting, “Another day, another TMZ lie about @NICKIMINAJ, This is completely false!” Minaj has not made any public comment.

If the court grants the default judgment, Minaj could be ordered to pay the full amount plus any additional collection costs, adding to a series of six‑figure debt disputes she has faced in recent months.
