Niclas Füllkrug leads Werder Bremen comeback surge

Niclas Füllkrug has revitalized his career following a return to Werder Bremen, leading the club to a series of notable comebacks in the Bundesliga. After stints with West Ham United and AC Milan, the 33-year-old striker recently scored two goals against Paderborn to secure a 2-2 draw, making Werder Bremen the first team in Bundesliga history to earn points after trailing by two goals in three consecutive matches.

Füllkrug’s resurgence has propelled Werder Bremen to eighth place in the standings, just one point behind the top six. However, his improved form has impacted the playing time of teammate Cedric Itten. Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune stated that the current tactical system is fixed around Füllkrug, noting that Itten must make the most of his limited minutes by showing more presence in the box and clinical finishing.
