Nico Mannion suspended as Italian basketball clubs face fines
The Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) has issued several disciplinary sanctions following the fourth round of the championship. BC Roma player Nico Mannion received a one-game suspension for directing an offensive expression toward a second referee following a loss against Venezia.
In a more significant ruling, Longobardi Scafati was fined 50,000 euros for failing to comply with roster regulations. After switching to a '6+6' formula, the club only registered five Italian-trained players for a match against Virtus Bologna, violating the required minimum. Despite the fine, the match result stands because the scoring margin exceeded the 20-point threshold required for a technical forfeit.
Other sanctions included fines for Napoli (1,200 euros) and Tortona (600 euros) due to sporadic offensive remarks made by spectators toward referees.
