Nicolò Bulega to skip MotoGP testing in Austria

Nicolò Bulega, the current World Superbike Championship leader, has decided to skip the upcoming MotoGP testing session at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The decision follows a heavy crash earlier this week while testing the 2027 Ducati prototype at Mugello.

Although Bulega reported no injuries from the fall, he stated to Sky Italia that he does not want to take “unnecessary risks” ahead of the next WorldSBK round in Cremona. The rider is currently in a position to potentially secure the 2026 title early at the Cremona event.

The Monday test at the Red Bull Ring serves as the second official Pirelli test for riders competing in MotoGP, focusing on the new 850cc specifications. Bulega has played a significant role in developing the Ducati MotoGP prototype alongside his WorldSBK campaign.
