Nicolò Bulega clinches 2026 WorldSBK title in Cremona
Overview
The 2026 WorldSBK season concluded with a historic victory for Nicolò Bulega at the Cremona Circuit during the EICMA Italian Round. Bulega, riding for Aruba.it Racing – Ducati, officially clinched the world title with two rounds to spare by finishing second in Race 2.
This victory marks Bulega as the first Italian rider to win the Superbike World Championship on a Ducati and the second Italian overall to achieve the feat, following Max Biaggi. His championship campaign was defined by record-breaking dominance, including ten consecutive pole positions, eight triple podiums out of ten possible races, and 25 fastest laps from 30 races.
As the season progressed, Bulega continued to shatter historical benchmarks. He secured 29 victories, surpassing Alvaro Bautista’s 2023 record of 27 wins, and amassed 664 points, eclipsing Jonathan Rea’s 2019 record of 663 points. Following a clean sweep of three races in Estoril, Portugal, Bulega reached a total of 33 podiums, placing him just one shy of Rea’s single-season record of 34.
While Bulega secured the title, teammate Iker Lecuona dominated the weekend’s individual races in Cremona, winning both the Superpole Race and Race 2. Yari Montella completed the podium in Race 2, finishing third. In contrast, BMW rider Miguel Oliveira faced a difficult weekend, suffering a retirement during the Superpole Race and crashing on the second lap of Race 2.
Following his tenure in Superbike, Bulega is scheduled to move to MotoGP in 2027, where he will ride for the VR46 Team Ducati.
