Nicolas Cage clarifies comments regarding Malibu home damage
Actor Nicolas Cage has clarified recent remarks in which he stated he was “a little bit homeless,” explaining that the comment was taken out of context. Speaking at the premiere of “Madden” and in interviews with outlets like Extra, the 62-year-old actor clarified that he was referring to the fact that his Malibu residence is currently uninhabitable due to a massive sinkhole and soil erosion.
The property, which has been red-tagged, suffered catastrophic damage following heavy rains and coastal erosion. The damage included a collapsed garage and parts of the driveway. Cage noted that because the house is unsafe, he and his family are temporarily staying in hotels, which prevented him from participating in his usual Halloween traditions, such as decorating and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.
Cage emphasized that he and his family are not destitute and are doing well financially. He expressed a need to be more careful with his phrasing in the future to avoid such intense scrutiny.
