Amazon Prime Video cancels Spider-Noir after one season

Amazon Prime Video and Sony Pictures Television have canceled the live-action Marvel series ‘Spider-Noir’ after just one season. Despite receiving critical acclaim, including 11 Emmy nominations and a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, the decision was driven by high production costs and declining viewership. The series, starring Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, was particularly expensive due to its period setting and the production of two distinct versions: an ‘Authentic Black & White’ cut and a ‘True-Hue Color’ release.

Showrunner Oren Uziel revealed that a second season could have explored new settings such as Los Angeles or Europe, potentially moving the timeline toward the Second World War. While the cancellation is a setback for the partnership between Amazon and Sony, the companies reportedly continue to collaborate on other Marvel Universe projects. Uziel noted that the first season was designed as a ‘closed-ended’ story, though he expressed interest in potentially continuing the character through other production avenues.
