Nicolo Bulega breaks WorldSBK records ahead of MotoGP move
Nicolo Bulega has broken multiple WorldSBK records during a dominant season ahead of his transition to MotoGP. The Italian rider has secured 29 victories this season, surpassing Alvaro Bautista’s 2023 record of 27 wins. Additionally, Bulega has amassed 664 points, eclipsing Jonathan Rea’s 2019 record of 663 points.
Bulega is currently chasing a third record for the most podiums in a single season; he has achieved 33 podiums, just one shy of Rea’s 34. His performance includes a clean sweep of three races in Estoril, Portugal, bringing his season total to 28 wins out of 33 possible races.
Following his success in Superbikes, Bulega is set to join Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Ducati squad in MotoGP for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Analysts suggest Bulega may have a competitive advantage due to his experience testing Ducati’s 850cc bike and his familiarity with Pirelli tyres, which are slated for introduction in MotoGP.
