Nicosia closes key streets for July 20 Peace and Freedom Day rehearsal

The Cyprus Police announced that several central streets in Nicosia will be closed to traffic on Sunday as part of the rehearsal for the 52nd anniversary of the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day celebration. Starting at 07:00, the stretch between the Honda and Altınbaş Petrol traffic‑light junctions and the Gönyeli roundabout will remain inaccessible until the rehearsal ends.

Drivers are being directed to alternative routes: traffic to the Organized Industrial Zone will be channeled through the Altınbaş Petrol junction under control, while those heading to Near East University or the city centre are advised to use the Northern Bypass Road, Hamitköy roundabout, or the specified side streets. Additional detours are detailed for traffic bound for Güzelyurt, Girne and other districts, with instructions to follow designated streets and roundabouts to reach their destinations safely. Police urged motorists to travel slowly, obey signs and remain vigilant while the rehearsal is in progress.
