Nicușor Dan labeled “pesedist” as Romanian politicians spar over his choices
Romanian President adviser Eugen Tomac evaluated mayor Nicușor Dan’s perceived shift toward the Social Democratic Party, noting that the “pesedist” tag reflects voter disappointment with unfulfilled reform promises in Bucharest. Tomac said Dan, a former civil‑society activist, is trying to keep PSD within a pro‑European project, a stance that risks further polarisation.
Football club owner Gigi Becali also weighed in, criticizing Dan’s shortlist of prime‑minister candidates – Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea – while praising Dan’s personal charisma. Becali called Dan “sleepy but charismatic” and claimed his own vote for Veștea was a promise to Dan, adding that the mayor’s “harisma” distinguishes him from other figures.
Both comments highlight internal political tensions and public frustration with the mayor’s performance and coalition prospects.
