Spain is currently battling two major wildfires that have caused significant evacuations and property damage. In the Niebla region of Huelva and Sevilla, the fire has surpassed 31,000 hectares, making it larger in area traversed than the historic 2004 Riotinto fire. The blaze has entered the Pata del Caballo natural area and the municipality of Aznalcóllar, leading to the evacuation of populations such as Berrocal.

Simultaneously, the Las Peñas de Riglos fire in Huesca has burned over 5,700 hectares. This incident has forced the evacuation of nearly 600 people across nine towns and the confinement of residents in Santa Cilia de Jaca due to heavy smoke.

Emergency response efforts are facing unique challenges. Due to a total solar eclipse, the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) has mandated that aerial firefighting aircraft must cease operations by 7:00 PM for safety reasons. While ground crews continue to work through the night, the restriction on fixed-wing aircraft limits the ability to combat the flames during the evening hours.
