Niederrhein Raderlebnistag draws cyclists across German and Dutch towns

The third Niederrhein Raderlebnistag took place on Sunday, 5 July 2026, inviting cyclists to explore the Lower Rhine region on two wheels. More than 50 municipalities from Germany and the Netherlands participated, offering a series of marked routes. In Viersen, three tours – routes 53, 57 and 59 – covered up to 56 km through the city’s four districts, with the start point at the Alte Markt in Dülken. Cyclists could log their mileage for the ongoing Stadtradeln campaign and the school‑cycling initiative, both promoting sustainable mobility.

In the neighbouring Kreis Wesel, the town of Schermbeck hosted its own rides beginning at the tourist information office, leading to Hünxe, Hamminkeln, Wesel and Voerde. The event featured a local brass band, two prize draws, and a charity ride with Wolfram Kons and Joey Kelly in Xanten raising funds for the RTL‑Stiftung “Wir helfen Kindern”. Throughout the day, participating restaurants and museums provided refreshments and information stations for riders.
