Niederrhein Raderlebnistag draws 34,000 cyclists across German‑Dutch border
On Sunday 5 July 2026 the annual Raderlebnistag Niederrhein took place, attracting an estimated 34,000 participants of all ages. The event, organized by Niederrhein Tourismus, offered 99 routes ranging from short family‑friendly trails to longer rides, with GPX tracks and PDFs available online. Participants could start from the Naturpark‑Tor in Wassenberg or the Dorfladen “Mittendrin” in Effeld, and enjoy numerous food and leisure stations along the way.
The day included a charity component: a donation drive for the foundation RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e. V., with RTL moderator Wolfram Kons and extreme‑sport athlete Joey Kelly leading a 20‑km ride around Xanten. The event emphasized sustainability by providing digital route files instead of paper maps and targeting families with a dedicated “playground route” in Wassenberg. An online prize draw was also offered via QR‑code registration.
The Raderlebnistag spanned locations on both the German and Dutch sides of the Niederrhein region, highlighting cross‑border cooperation and regional tourism promotion.
