Niger and Togo collaborate on customs fraud prevention training
Customs officials from Niger and Togo are participating in a training program in Lomé aimed at improving fraud detection and risk management. The initiative, which runs through October 2026, focuses on transitioning from mass inspections to intelligence-based targeting and data analysis.
Supported by the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and the World Customs Organization (WCO), the program encourages South-South cooperation. Togo is sharing operational expertise with Niger to help modernize control methods, moving away from systematic inspections toward more efficient, data-driven profiling to combat evolving fraud networks.
