Niger and Tunisia launch digital and vocational training programmes boosting youth employment

In Niger, the Fonds d’Appui à la Formation Professionnelle et à l’Apprentissage (FAFPA‑FE) completed a digital‑skills training programme for 100 young people, awarding certificates on 25 June 2026. The cohort includes 40 infographists, 30 webmasters and 30 community managers, and the training was funded largely by FAFPA‑FE at a cost of 35.6 million FCFA. Programme director Mahaman Maikassoua Moustapha highlighted the initiative’s role in enhancing employability and supporting the country’s digital transformation.

In Tunisia, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Riadh Chaoued reported a 100 % job‑placement rate for graduates of professional training centres. He credited the “Grands employeurs” programme, launched in 2025, with integrating more than 17 000 young people in high‑demand sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, electronics and electricity, and emphasized ongoing support for youth facing labour‑market changes, including those caused by artificial‑intelligence‑driven transformations.
