Niger Delta Advocate Alamieyeseigha Urges Tech‑Driven Industrial Shift

Development advocate Seleake Tarilah Alamieyeseigha has called on Nigeria’s federal government and Niger Delta states to adopt bold policy reforms that would transform the oil‑rich region into a technology‑driven industrial hub. He argues that reliance on crude oil is unsustainable and that the Niger Delta must diversify into advanced manufacturing, renewable‑energy production, marine engineering, agro‑industrial processing and other high‑value sectors.

Alamieyeseigha proposes integrated industrial corridors, petrochemical value chains, logistics hubs, and renewable‑energy manufacturing ecosystems, backed by investment in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data infrastructure, cybersecurity, biotechnology, automation, geospatial technologies and digital public infrastructure. He also urges reforms in education—strengthening STEM, technical‑vocational training, digital literacy and entrepreneurship—to produce graduates who create industries. Reliable electricity, modern transport networks, seaports, broadband, industrial water systems and logistics infrastructure are highlighted as essential enablers.

The advocate stresses that industrial development must be pursued alongside environmental sustainability, transparent governance, fiscal discipline and regulatory certainty. He envisions the Niger Delta becoming West Africa’s leading centre for advanced manufacturing, energy innovation, maritime commerce and digital technology if consistent policies and public‑private partnerships are established.
