Niger Delta declared most peaceful under President Tinubu

Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, administrator of Nigeria’s Presidential Amnesty Programme, said the Niger Delta has become the most peaceful region in the country, crediting President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the support of the Office of the National Security Adviser. He made the statement while opening a two‑day Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation training for 120 programme stakeholders at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

Otuaro noted that the peacebuilding efforts under the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda have yielded positive results, citing ongoing investments in education and human capital. About 8,500 scholarship beneficiaries are currently studying at Nigerian universities and another 247 are pursuing postgraduate studies abroad. He expressed confidence that the region will back Tinubu’s re‑election bid in 2027 and thanked the security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his backing.

The programme, established in 2009 to end militancy, continues to provide rehabilitation, vocational training and empowerment to former agitators, aiming to sustain stability, protect oil infrastructure and foster development in the Niger Delta.
