Niger Delta Development Commission honors late OMPADEC Chairman

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has honored the late Chief Albert Horsfall, the pioneer Chairman of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC), for his contributions to the Niger Delta region.

During a condolence ceremony at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, NDDC Governing Board Chairman Chiedu Ebie described Horsfall as a patriotic figure who promoted Nigerian unity. Ebie noted that Horsfall had previously been cleared of corruption charges by five separate investigative panels following the dissolution of OMPADEC.

To honor his legacy, the NDDC has directed that flags at its headquarters, nine state offices, and the Abuja liaison office be flown at half-mast. Additionally, the ancillary building at the NDDC headquarters will be named after Horsfall. NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku stated that these actions reflect the current administration's commitment to recognizing individuals who have contributed to the growth of the commission and the region.
