Niger State highway project launched with N1.83tn Dangote financing

The Nigerian federal government has launched a N1.83 trillion project to reconstruct and dualise the 401-kilometre Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Makera-Kontagora road in Niger State. The project is being financed by the Dangote Group through the government’s tax-credit scheme.

Niger State Governor Umaru Bago performed the flag-off on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The highway expansion aims to improve connectivity between agricultural centres and commercial hubs, facilitating the movement of goods and people. The road will be constructed using continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) to ensure durability and climate resilience.

Minister of Works David Umahi stated that the administration has initiated approximately 5,500 kilometres of road projects across the North-central zone, with over 1,000 kilometres located in Niger State. He noted that the removal of the petrol subsidy has provided the fiscal space necessary to commit more resources to such nationwide infrastructure developments.
