Nigeria: Actor Mr Macaroni marks six years since #EndSARS protests

Nigerian actor and content creator Debo Adedayo, known as Mr Macaroni, has expressed concern regarding the nation's socio-economic state six years after the #EndSARS protests. In a social media post, he highlighted persistent issues including insecurity, hunger, poverty, inadequate healthcare, and high levels of corruption and impunity.

He also noted an increasing division among citizens, urging Nigerians to recognize their collective power to shape the country's leadership and prevent a minority from undermining the interests of the majority.

The #EndSARS movement began in October 2020 to demand an end to police brutality, specifically targeting the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The protests were marked by a significant incident on October 20, 2020, at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, where security forces opened fire on demonstrators. Official reports confirmed nine deaths and listed four others as missing and presumed dead.
