Nigeria advances clean energy through Abia partnership and REA board inauguration
The Abia State government has entered into a partnership with the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to advance clean energy and sustainable transportation. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of compressed natural gas as an affordable fuel source and develop a clean mobility ecosystem through infrastructure investment.
In a related development for Nigeria’s energy sector, the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has inaugurated the new Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The board, chaired by Ayodele Fayose, is tasked with overseeing strategic direction for programs such as the Africa mini-grids program and initiatives focused on electrifying schools, health centers, and farms to drive economic inclusion.
