Nigeria approves funds to revive abandoned National Library project
The Nigerian Federal Executive Council has approved funds to revive and complete the National Library of Nigeria Headquarters Complex in Abuja. The project, which originally commenced in April 2006, has been stalled since October 2008, remaining unfinished through several successive administrations.
Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the mobilization of resources to finish the project. Funding is being sourced from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and other efforts. Additionally, the Minister noted that First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu contributed approximately ₦25 billion by directing that gifts from her birthday celebration be channeled toward the library's completion.
