Nigeria Falconets arrive in Poland for FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have arrived in Poland to begin preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The team is set to make history as one of only three nations—alongside Brazil and the United States—to have participated in every edition of the tournament since its inception.

Head coach Moses Aduku has led the squad through an intensive training camp in Abuja, focusing on tactical discipline and physical conditioning. Before the tournament begins on September 5, the Falconets are scheduled to play friendly matches against Poland and the Korea Republic to acclimatize to local conditions.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group F, where they will face Spain, China PR, and New Caledonia. The team is seeking its first world title after previously finishing as runners-up in 2010 and 2014.

However, the squad faces potential roster challenges. Reports indicate visa issues affecting captain Joy Igbokwe and striker Janet Akekoromowei, with the Nigerian federation seeking administrative solutions to ensure key players can participate.
