The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has called on President Bola Tinubu to grant presidential amnesty to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. The monarch suggested that Kanu’s release could serve as a tool for national reconciliation and help address long-standing grievances stemming from the Nigerian Civil War, particularly within the Igbo community.

Oba Akanbi also recommended the establishment of a dedicated panel to address historical grievances and promote healing among Nigerians to strengthen relationships between major ethnic groups.

In a separate development, Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, has launched the Ogun State chapter of the Iru Ekun Security Network. The initiative, which saw a large turnout of volunteers, is intended to operate in coordination with government authorities. According to Igboho, the federal government will oversee training, while the Ogun State Governor’s Office will manage deployment and determine monthly allowances for members.
