The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the pilot‑in‑command and the first officer of a private jet that mistakenly landed on a road under construction near Asaba Airport in Delta State in June 2026. The aircraft, a Bombardier Challenger 601‑3A operated by VMO Aero Ltd (registration N989BC), was later flown to Lagos without the required clearance. NCAA Director General Capt. Chris Najomo announced at the Airport Business Summit in Lagos that the pilots are barred from operating in Nigerian airspace, the aircraft has been grounded, and its Permit for Non‑Commercial Flight has been suspended. The investigation, transferred from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau to the NCAA, also involves the Department of State Services. The suspensions will remain in effect until the inquiries are concluded.
