Nigeria Customs Service Apapa Command hits record ₦323b monthly revenue

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command recorded a record monthly revenue of ₦323 billion in July 2026. This surpasses the previous milestone of ₦304 billion set in October 2025. Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba attributed this growth to operational reforms, improved trader compliance, and policy support, including foreign exchange market stability under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

On a broader scale, NCS Zone A has set a revenue target of nearly ₦8 trillion for 2026. Zone A, which accounts for approximately 80 percent of the total NCS revenue, includes 16 commands such as Apapa, Tin-Can Island, and Lekki Deep Sea Port. Assistant Comptroller-General Mohamed Babandede stated that the zone aims to achieve fully paperless operations by the end of 2026 through automation and technology-driven processes.

To support these targets, the NCS is prioritizing compliant traders by aiming to complete the clearance process for documented cargo within 48 hours. The service is also implementing a one-stop-shop approach to minimize unnecessary interventions after cargo has been formally released.
