Nigeria security agencies forge new partnerships to boost coordination

The Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force formalised an expanded partnership at the Army headquarters in Abuja, pledging deeper intelligence sharing, operational coordination and joint strategic communication to tackle terrorism, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping. In a related meeting, the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force reiterated their collaboration on strategic communication and public engagement, emphasizing transparency and stakeholder confidence. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Army to develop canine units for aviation security, aiming to strengthen detection and response capabilities at airports and critical aviation infrastructure.

These agreements reflect a broader government drive to integrate security and enforcement agencies, improve public trust and enhance Nigeria’s overall security architecture through joint training, shared resources and coordinated messaging.
