Nigeria disburses N38.93bn to 166 tertiary institutions

The Nigerian Federal Government has released N38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions across the country through the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund. The funding is intended to address infrastructure deficits and enhance teaching and learning facilities.

The allocation covers 79 universities, 46 polytechnics, and 41 colleges of education. Universities are the primary beneficiaries, receiving N28.5 billion, which represents approximately 73.2 per cent of the total fund. Polytechnics were allocated N5.8 billion, while colleges of education received N4.7 billion.

According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, this intervention also aims to support the implementation of measures agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The funds are expected to facilitate approved projects addressing critical institutional needs.
